Liver spots
Liver spots - the lay term liver spot is a fairly non-specific, but usually refers to flat, brown spots which occur most frequently on the face, hands, and back. The term age spot is another loosely defined lay term. These can thicken and become elevated with time. They also tend to become darker brown with time and more numerous. On biopsy, these liver spots are usually what dermatologists refer to as seborrheic keratoses. The liver spots which are seborrhiec keratoses are usually medically insignificant.
The are often a cosmetic concern because they can become so noticeable due to their dark color, large size, or thickness. Cosmetic removal is frequently requested and easily and rapidly performed. Many
methods liver spot removal are used, including laser removal.
