Seborrheic keratosis is a specific diagnosis of a benign skin growth or lesion which tends to be tan or brown, has a stuck-on appearance, tends to be multiple, on the face or trunk, and has a specific histological
appearance under the microscope. Lay terms which are less specific which may sometimes be used include brown spots, age spots, and liver spots. Seborrheic keratoses
do not usually require medical treatment, but are frequently removed for cosmetic reasons, often by laser.
