Laser Removal of Cherry angiomas (red spots on skin)
Red spots on skin which are of the type called cherry angioma are medically insignificant, but may be cosmetically bothersome. Cherry
angiomas are extremely common and are often familial. These spots range from barely visible pinpoint size up to several millimeters. With time, cherry angiomas tend to increase in number and in size.
Diode laser treatment of these red skin spots is rapid and achieves excellent results, eliminating these lesions. Laser treatment usually gets rid of the lesion permanently. Although new red skin spots
tend to form (in new locations) over time, they usually take several years or more to become large enough to become very visible. These new red spots can also be treated with laser. After laser
treatment, the red spot, or cherry angioma usually becomes less red immediately, and may form a small crust or scab which falls away after a few days. Because laser treatment is rapid, large numbers of red
spots can be treated in a very short period of time. Cherry angiomas are most commonly found on the chest, abdomen, and arms, but may occur in other body areas.
