How soon can I go back to work after liposuction?
This of course depends upon what type of work you do, what type of liposuction you had performed, how much liposuction was performed, and
how you feel afterwards.
With Tumescent liposuction, general anesthesia is not necessary, so
recovery is more rapid. If you have a lot of liposuction done, or many areas done (with any type of liposuction), you will be sore the next 1-3 days to some degree.
Each person is different,
so it is impossible to predict for any one patient what recovery will be like. Most patients plan to take 2-3 days off from work, and this has worked well in virtually every case.
If the areas treated are covered by clothing, there will be little if any clue that you had anything done once 72 hours have passed.
During the first 24 hours, you will likely still be draining some fluid from the tiny incisions. The amount of fluid is easily and discreetly manageble by 24 to 48 hours in virtually all cases.
We have had some patients go to work the following day, and some have even gone to work for a full shift immediately after tumescent liposuction
(not at all recommended). Certainly though, you will be up and about immediately after liposuction, as well as on the following day.
It is good to periodically get up and walk around and do some light activity, but you will also probably want to just be a "couch potato" for a
part of the first day or two following tumescent liposuction.
